Vision

TEDxSGTBKC's work is primarily centred around curating and
hosting independently organized TEDx events. These events are crafted with the same vision and principles as official TED conferences. This stage provides students and invited speakers a platform to share powerful ideas across a variety of domains like science, entrepreneurship, humanities, technology, military, government officials, and civil services etc. Members cooperate across multiple teams, from Content and Curation, Marketing, Public Relations and Sponsorships, Operations, Media, Design, Decoration, and managing Treasury; ensuring that each TEDxSGTBKC event embodies the
values and legacy associated with TED. Since its inception, TEDxSGTBKC has hosted two events, setting the foundation for many more impactful events to come.

Society Activities

The society had its flagship event in Master Tara Singh
auditorium on 19 th of January, 2024 with its theme as “Before the Fire Extinguishes.” The theme,“Before the fire extinguishes,” invigorates an individual to strive for the best, utilize the opportunities in hand and accomplish feats of success before the moment and with it the opportunity, cease to exist. It emphasizes on how people's energy and zeal must be directed
towards accomplishing something extraordinary before the time runs out. Therefore, before the time runs out, people's energy and devotion must be directed toward accomplishing something extraordinary which they still have access to. The theme’s main motive was to aware people of the importance of time and chance, and furthermore to act upon them from this very instance.
The event drew participation from a diverse group of speakers, including IPS officers, IAS officers, entrepreneurs, military personnel, artists, and more. These talks and performances were attended by over 500 students and faculty members, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and perspectives. The second TEDxSGTBKC Event was a TEDxWomen event around the theme “Astra”.
“Astra” resonates with the idea of something celestial and transcendent, a weapon that possesses the propensity to create as well as destroy, deconstruct, and reconstruct. Women, just like an Astra, combat and undergo many challenges, such as gender bias, lower wages, gender stereotypes and expectations, sexual harassment and violence, inequalities in various
domains of life, and the repeated relegation owing to cultural and traditional ideas and norms.
Another interpretation of the theme could be how women, throughout history and in contemporary times, have had to wield their own Astra in form of intelligence, compassion, determination, and consistency in order to overcome societal challenges and to break the boundaries set by society.
The event commenced at 10 AM in the morning. Principal Gurmohinder Singh gave an invigorating speech and “I am a woman and a warrior,” were the opening lines of the anchors which set the tone for the event. Following it, the event say lectures from: Misha Sarowal, an acclaimed TV Host, was Dr. Dakshita Das, who is an experienced bureaucrat having served as an Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) Officer, and as MD & CEO at National Housing Bank, Shiwani Pawar, an author, and anxiety and well-being coach, Dr.
Gitanjali Surendran professor in History at O.P. Jindal University, and Swarnima
Bhattacharya, the Co-Founder of Gytree. The event also saw musical performances by Mahima Dayal Mathur, popularly known as Bawri Basanti and Suhani Tyagi.
