About
The Eco-Club promotes the participation of students with the aim to educate them about the prevailing environment, the causes of environment deterioration and measure to conserve sustainably. Ecoclan- The Eco-Club of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College was founded in 2010 by faculty and students dedicated to creating efficient campus recycling and "Green" activities under the initiative of Eco-club plan scheme by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The club intends to be a forum where students with environmental curiosity can congregate, share knowledge and plan action regarding nature and sustainability. Ecoclan strive to inspire students to inhabit a more sustainable environmentally-friendly lifestyle and to inculcate minds with environmental conservation. Ecoclan has enthusiastic team of faculty members and students from various departments of the college, deliberately working with the aim of society.

Vision
Ecoclan members make attempt to achieve and maintain a socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable planet – A planet that can meet all of the needs of future generations, allowing them to lead happy and healthy lives.
The society works with the vision and values, such as:
- Every human deserves access to clean air, water, food, and a safe environment, allowing them to live healthy and happy lives.
- Preservation of nature and responsible stewardship of natural resources.
- Environmental justice.
- Importance of education as a catalyst for positive actions.
- It is the responsibility of the current generation to develop solutions to minimize human-caused global warming and to mitigate impacts of climate change.
Mission
Ecoclan serves to connect Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa students with other colleges of Delhi University, and other universities students and staff, interested in advancing sustainability, empowering them to share knowledge and resources, spread awareness, and inspire individuals to take action (in their neighborhood and communities both) towards a sustainable future for all. Ecoclan organizes frequent tree plantation programmes, awareness programmes on current environmental issues such as the climate change, plastic pollution, e-waste management, ozone layer depletion etc. and its impacts on the environment. Through organizing various events, Ecoclan promotes the understanding and curiosity among the participating students and develops the prospectives for innovative ideas from youth inform towards the environment.
Society Activities
Ecoclan is devoted in spreading awareness related to environmental conservation and improvement amongst students and faculty members of the college and organized various competitive events and awareness drives where students from different departments/ colleges enthusiastically took part. The activities held by the club during last two years are as follows:
- The World Ozone Day-2022 was celebrated with various competitive events.
- Competitive events to celebrate Vanmahotsav-2022 were organized on 11th July & 13th July, 2022.
- Eco Walk was organized for faculty members and students amidst nature on 11th September, 2022.
- Bird watching for faculty members and students was organized on14th September 2022 to help them understand the importance of bird species in nature.
- Environmental Rangoli making competition and slogan writing competition on 15th September, 2022.
- An appeal was made to all the Teaching, non-teaching staff and students to give up cars for one day on account of Zero emission Day and World Car-free Day on 21st and 22nd September, 2022 respectively in order to protect our environment from harmful emission. Green batches were distributed by students in the college campus and neighborhood.
- The E-Waste Collection Drives was organized frequently throughout the year by the club and collected e-waste from students, teaching, non-teaching staff and laboratories for their ecofriendly recycling.
- To celebrate World Environment Day-2023 an Inter-college Documentary Making Competition was organized on the theme “Beat the Plastic Pollution” from 3rd - 10th June, 2023.
- Under Swachata Abhiyan, student and faculty members of Ecoclan actively participated/organized the “Cleanliness Drive” in the college campus on 1st October 2023.
- For awareness of World Ozone Day 2024 special lecture was organized by Prof. Dinabandhu Sahoo, Head, Department of Botany, University of Delhi on 18th September 2024.
- Tree plantation and Pledge to protect environment with faculty members and students was done during World Ozone Day celebration.
