About
The Debate and Discussion Society (DADS) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College holds a prestigious position as one of the oldest and most respected debating societies at Delhi University. Over the years, it has steadfastly pursued its mission to promote and nurture a vibrant debating culture within the college community. The society made significant progress under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Nachiketa Singh for almost 12 years. Since 2024, Dr. Tarun Kumar has been heading the society as its convenor, and Ms. Sakeena Shahid as co-convener. Dr. Asad Ahmad is the society advisor. Our society takes pride in pursuing a rigorous four-stage recruitment process designed to identify
talented individuals passionate about debate and discussion. It begins with a form-filling stage, where applicants provide details about their interests, achievements, and motivations. Shortlisted candidates then move on to a group discussion stage, where they demonstrate their ability to articulate ideas,
collaborate, and think critically. Those who perform well proceed to the third stage to showcase their argumentative skills via a conventional debate. The final stage is a personal interview to assess the candidate's overall potential and alignment with society's values. This comprehensive process ensures
the selection of dedicated and skilled members who can contribute meaningfully to DADS.
Society members have achieved remarkable success by winning and excelling in numerous prestigious debate and discussion events over the years. These include Nazariya CPD, SRCC BPD, Vigzest CD hosted by Miranda House, the VC Memorial held at St. Stephen's College, and many
more. Their dedication and exceptional performance showcase the society's commitment to fostering intellectual growth and excellence in public speaking. DADS has served as a platform for students to explore their potential, express their views fearlessly, and emerge as well-rounded individuals ready to excel in any debate, discussion, or professional setting.
