About

Gatka was first introduced by 6th guru SRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI Gatka is a form of martial art associated primarily with the Sikhs. GATKA was started in Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College in 2009.

Vision

The aim to introduce gatka was to learn self-defence and to keep students attach and open to their culture. Since then it is practiced daily in the college with same enthusiasm and not only it is restricted to the practice sessions or college boundary but TEGH: The Gatka Team has shown its resplendent performances at many places and events.  

Mission

Gatka has gained significant recognition and has been included in various platforms as sports. TEGH gave incredible performance at Various National level-37th NATIONAL GAMES OF INDIA, GOA organised by Indian Olympic Association: National Gatka Championship - 2023, various Delhi State Level Gatka Competition, G20 Summit’s Ceremony and won gold ,silver and bronze medal at Various inter colleges. In past the Gatka was only restricted to Nagar Kirtans. But, as the time is passing gatka can be seen making its way in sports. Now from last year gatka came into state Olympics also it is gradually getting its pace and is now accepted at international level. Mission of the society is to enhance the roots of the culture and bring every student in a state that they can learn self-defence and can apply the techniques whenever they are stuck in a situation, where they can defend themselves.   
 

Society Activities

TEGH: The Gatka Society of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, gave a magnificent performance at the 9th Delhi State Gatka Competition,2024. These members of our team won respective medals Ashnoor Kaur - Bronze Medal Jaspreet Singh - Bronze Medal Ishmeet Kaur - Silver & Bronze Medal Kawandeep Kaur - Bronze Medal.  

The Gatka Team of SGTB Khalsa College performed in the 78th Independence Day celebration held by the National Cadet Corps & National Services Scheme. The team members put up a special performance for this special day.  

The 8th National Gatka Championship,2024 held in Sangrur, Punjab. Our students excelled in the event and brought the following Laurels to the institution.

Our society members came together for a meaningful seva, of the shastar and Gatka room. The space was beautifully prepared and organized, reflecting the respect and devotion we hold for our traditions.  

The members of Tegh: The Gatka Team of SGTB Khalsa College performed in the samagam held by the college on “PEHLA PRAKASH PURAB OF SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI.” The team showcased a remarkable performance to celebrate this day.
