“Chalchitra”, SGTB Khalsa College's “Filmmaking-Society”, is a vibrant group of cinema enthusiasts, who are intensely passionate about storytelling and filmmaking. Since its inception, “Chalchitra” has been a pillar of creative expression, providing students with an opportunity to explore and improve their skills in acting, directing, scriptwriting, cinematography and editing.
Our society encourages meaningful collaboration, allowing members to learn from each other and to create effective materials which resonate strongly with the viewers. Our society has bagged multiple honours within and outside the Delhi University circuit with its signature projects (Bhola-sa-Mann and Dichotomy) earning both popular praise and critical
appreciation.

“Chalchitra” aims to be a pioneering society in the University of Delhi's film circuit,dedicated to nurturing filmmakers and cultivating a deep appreciation for cinema. We believe in the power of cinema to bridge cultures and reveal shared human experience. Our vision is to explore and bring local stories to life, balancing creative techniques with compelling narratives.
Through our productions, discussions, and our annual event, Film Fair, we inspire and educate the next generation of filmmakers. We envision expanding our influence by producing films which not only win awards, but also create meaningful conversations.

 

“Chalchitra” dedicatedly provides students with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel in the art of filmmaking. Our mission is to:

• Provide students with first-hand experience in all aspects of filmmaking.
• Create an inclusive workplace in which everyone's creativity is valued.
• Collaborate with like-minded organizations and industry professionals to increase learning and exposure.
• Maintain strong storytelling standards, focusing on stories that are both socially relevant and artistically captivating.
• Organize events to recognize cinematic achievements, while also encouraging networking and professional development.

Chalchitra’s calendar is packed with activities which reflect our commitment towards nurturing talent and celebrating the art of filmmaking:

1. Workshops and Training: Regular sessions on cinematography, editing, acting, and storytelling are conducted by industry professionals and experienced alumni.
2. In-House Productions: We produce award-winning short films, documentaries, and reels that provide hands-on experience to our members. For example, the Montage style was utilised to make a short film on our institution. Comprising of more than 400 clips, it covers diverse facets of the college and served as an introducing glimpse into SGTB Khalsa college for newly admitted students of the batch 2024-25. 3. Competitions and Film Festivals: “Chalchitra” actively participates in and organizes
film competitions, providing members with opportunities to showcase their talents.
4. Annual Event – “Film-fair”: Our flagship event features film screenings, cosplay, open mic sessions, and cultural performances. It is a two-day celebration of creativity, bringing together participants from across the university.
5. Collaborations: We partner with other college societies to broaden the scope and impact of our activities.

6. Social Media Campaigns: Engaging our audience with creative content on
Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn to maintain an active presence and attract talent.
