The Poetry Society has several exciting plans for the upcoming year. Some of the proposed activities include organizing various workshops on different forms of poetry and poets and collaborating with other literary societies and organizations to promote poetry in the community. The society also plans on releasing an annual anthology featuring the remarkable works of the members and conducting a theatre/ expression-writing workshop with exquisite professors from our own college.

Acrostic has had a successful past in promoting poetry and fostering a vibrant community on campus. The various competitions, meetings, and special events have provided students with opportunities to explore their creativity, engage in meaningful discussions, and connect with like-minded individuals. The Poetry Society is committed to continuing its efforts in promoting poetry and creating a nurturing environment for budding poets in the future.
Society Activities
Qafila'23
Acrostic successfully organized its annual flagship event, Qafila ‘23, on 8th and 9th September. The event hosted three inter- college poetry competitions : Hiraeth, an English poetry slam; Sunehe, a Punjabi poetry slam; and
Shabdostav, a Hindi/Urdu poetry slam. The themes of these competitions did not restrict the participants creatively, allowing the participants to explore different styles and genres of poetry. The event was a huge success with an
engaging participation from various colleges. Qafila was graced by Anubhav Tekwani and Kavya Sharma, as judges and the winners were awarded prizes, along with certificates of appreciation.
Orientation
Acrostic hosted an open for all meeting to introduce the society to the freshers on a more intimate note, which saw huge participation throughout all the three years. It was followed by a photo walk activity and an impromptu poetry writing session. After the recruitment process, the selected members were addressed by the society's convener and committee of professors on board, who expressed their interest in having keen artists on board.
Meetings
The Poetry Society conducts regular meetings on Mondays and Fridays to discuss and propagate shared love for poetry, and also engage in meaningful discussion. These meetings include reading circles, discussions on literary movements, workshops on poetic forms and techniques, activity meets, and open mic sessions. These include activities like blackout poetry, photo walks, etc. Acrostic kickstarted the session with a splendid meeting on Muktibodh, followed by Ocean Vuong’s postmodern writing and a reading circle on 19th century’s Edgar Allan Poe. The meeting on Kabir Das and war-crisis saw immense interest and discussion and the activity writing session encouraged creative writing.
