On August 16, 2023, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College held its Orientation Programme, marking the commencement of the academic journey for the incoming class – the Class of 2026/27. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Professor Jaswinder Singh, Principal of Khalsa College; Chairman, S. Tarlochan Singh; Vice Principal, Professor Surinder Kaur; Secretary Staff Council, Dr. Nachiketa Singh; Convenor for Admissions, Dr. Gurkirpal Singh; and Convenor for Timetable, Mr. P.D. Sharma. The event introduced the new students and their families to the college's academic programmes, extracurricular activities, and supportive community, fostering excitement and a sense of belonging. The Principal of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College welcomed new students and parents, highlighting the college's distinguished faculty and the transformative impact of the National Education Policy. He emphasised upon active participation in discussions and projects, in perview of the comprehensive four-year degree program with internships. Emphasising discipline and academic excellence, he stressed the importance of upholding the college's legacy. His speech was followed by Chairman S. Tarlochan Singh’s address, who warmly welcomed the students and underlined the college's rich history and the Sikh community's dedication to education. Furthermore, Mr. PD Sharma outlined and elucidated the structure of Khalsa College's four-year program, highlighting its flexibility and the opportunity for students to exit with Certificates, Diplomas, or Honours Degrees. He explained the semester system and stressed the importance of time management. Mr. Sharma detailed the course structure for various disciplines, including Honours Programmes and BA Programme in Humanities or Social Sciences. He also explained the credit system and the distribution of Core Courses, Electives, SEC and VAC options. Additionally, he provided information on accessing academic resources and assistance. He concluded by outlining the schedule for certificate verification and ID card generation post-admission. In succession to Mr. PD Sharma’s speech, Dr. Nachiketa Singh emphasised the college's commitment to holistic development- beyond academics, listing the available co-curricular activities and urging active participation. He stressed the importance of mental health and encouraged seeking support from faculty, assuring parents of the college's commitment to student welfare. The orientation ended with National Anthem followed by a call to explore the campus and engage with society stalls and familiarise themselves with the surroundings.
