An interactive session on Mental Health was conducted on 21st March, 2024 in the college auditorium of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College. The speaker for the day was Dr. Arushi Dewan, a RCI accredited clinical psychologist. The speaker was welcomed by the Officiating Principal, Prof. Surinder Kaur and the teacher in-charge for the session, Dr. Rupali Sharma. Volunteers and teacher in-charge for the seminar were present there to make all necessary arrangements. The speaker began the session by asking the audience their idea of mental health and paving a way for discussion. The speaker used a presentation to explain the concepts and make the discussion interesting. The various symptoms under Depression and Anxiety were discussed in detail to encourage a better understanding and enable individuals to help each other overcome the hurdles imposed by these disorders. Coping strategies like the ‘Mastery and Pleasure Principle’, ‘Gratitude and Self Esteem Journal’, and the ‘Three Good Thing Talk’ were introduced to help students manage their mental wellbeing at the personal level. The various symptoms under Depression and Anxiety were discussed in detail to encourage a better understanding and enable individuals to help each other overcome the hurdles imposed by these disorders. The Talk was then concluded with an elaborate Question-and-Answer round, which was the best part of the discussion and helped the audience gain a closer insight into the specifics into the discussion. Overall, nearly sixty plus students attended the seminar and the seminar was a great success.
