Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Delhi University, organised a Kirtan Samagam commemorating the martyrdom of Mata Gujri ji and the four Sahibzade on December 26, 2024 in the college's Gurudwara Sahib. The event was organised to honor and remember Mata Gujri ji, the revered mother of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and her four grandsons—Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh's commitment to justice, truth, and faith in the face of unimaginable adversity. The successive sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's family are historically recorded to have occurred between 23th to 28th December, with Sahibzada Ajit Singh and Jujhar Singh aged 17 and 14 getting martyred in the battle of Chamkour and Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh aged 9 and 7 getting executed by immurement on the orders of Wazir Khan, governer of Sirhind. The catastrophe of their martyrdom is a deeply significant event in Sikh history, reflecting courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith in eglitarian principles.
Organised by the students of ‘Anhad’- The Divinity Society, ‘Fateh’- The Sikh History Society and an organising team of teachers comprising of Prof. Harbans Singh (Vice Principal), Prof. Amanpreet Singh Gill, Prof. Sukhvir Singh, Prof. Jagir Kaur, Dr. Ravinder Kaur Bedi, Ms. Harneet Kaur, Ms. Armeen Kaur Ahuja, Dr. Kawaljeet Kaur and Mr. Daljeet Singh Bajaj, the event attained fulfillment under the guidance and support of Principal sir, Prof. Gurmohinder Singh. The commemorative event also witnessed enthusiastic participation by the students who came forth to recite the self written poems based on the history of martyrdom and contributed paintings for an exhibition titled- ‘Safar-e-Shahadat’.
