"A Talk on Partition Chronicles and Meet the Author" was held on February 7th, 2025, by the departments of History, Punjabi, and Political Science (under the aegis of the IQAC), focusing on the profound impact of the Partition. The event provided a platform to explore the untold human stories behind the historical event, allowing attendees to connect emotionally with the history.
The event came ti fruition due to dedicated efforts of Principal Prof. Gurmohinder Singh, Vice Principal Prof. Harbans Singh, Guest of Honor Kulvir Gojra, along with Dr. Ravinder Kaur Bedi, Prof. Pratibha Chawla, Prof. Bipin K. Thakur, Prof. Jagir Kaur, and Dr. Roopam Jasmeet Kaur. The event began with a spiritual recitation by Anhad- The Divinity Society, where students recited the Shabad, 'Hau Vari Vajha Khaniye Vanjha', setting a reverent atmosphere.
Vice Principal Prof. Harbans Singh spoke on the
teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the resilient spirit of the Sikh community. The highlight of the event was author Sanwal Dhami’s poignant sharing of his experiences of interviewing over 700 Partition survivors. His emotional connection to their stories brought to life the immense suffering, loss, and grief they endured, making the history feel deeply personal.
The event reached its emotional peak when Mr. Dhami recounted the tragic story of a family’s loss during Partition, which left the room in stunned silence. Mr. Kulvir Singh Gojra, the guest of honor, also commented on Sanwal Dhami’s work and devotion, underscoring the importance of remembering and honoring the painful chapters of our shared history.
