Parwaaz, carrying its very essence, stands for giving flight to art and its worshippers—the artists. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College and Robaroo Theatre Group, Vijay Suri Foundation collaborated under the aegis of IQAC, in alignment with the objectives of the National Education Policy, to organise a short-play competition based on social issues. The event came to life through the ideation of Ms. Kajal Suri, Director of Robroo Theatre Group and the vision of Dr. Ravinder Kaur Bedi, Prof. Smita Mishra and Ms. Armeen Kaur Ahuja along the organising team comprising of Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Ms. Saheb Kaur and Dr. Parmjit Kaur. Principal Prof. Gurmohinder Singh and Vice Principal, Prof Harbans Singh’s support enabled the success of the event.

The competition saw participation from several teams, including various teams from Delhi University. The short plays and monoacts were judged by a panel of experts comprising of Prof. Kulvir Gojra (Head, Department of Punjabi, Delhi University), Prof. Smitha Mishra (Department of Hindi) and Ms. Vineeta Kambiri (Writer, Translator, All India Radio) as members.

Team Masque from Hindu College secured the 1st position, Team Pratibimb from DTU clinched the 2nd position, and Team Rangayan Stage from ARSD bagged the 3rd position. In the Monoact category, Preeti Singh from Maharaja Surajmal Institute delivered a stellar performance, securing 1st place. The competition which was organised to introduce the college students to understanding drama beyond textbooks remained a success and opened the horizon of experiencing theatre beyond literature.
